The Shoebox: A Story Waiting to be Read Again

ree

A shoebox filled with memories,

Each item holds a piece of me,

A treasure trove of time,

A memory, thought, or rhyme.

Postcards from a trip out west,

Polaroid with the college sweetheart,

Letter from a childhood friend,

That we'll keep until the end.

Pressed rose from a first date,

Ticket stub pocketed after a kiss,

Each one a moment caught in time,

A comfort in life's endless climb.

For in this safe haven, we see our lives,

The people that have touched our hearts,

The beauty, joy, and sometimes pain,

Reminiscing we go, smiling again.

For though time may pass, and people go,

There are true treasure of our lives,

It's the memories they leave behind,

That will forever be etched in our minds.

In this box full of keepsakes,

We see a glimpse into our past,

There's magic to be found,

And the love that still surrounds.

Just because something is no longer where it has been doesn't mean it wasn't beautiful or valuable in its own way. This one shoebox we all have serves as a metaphor for the larger story of our lives, with each item representing a chapter or a moment in that story, helping us create and shape a beautiful and fulfilling narrative.
